Bug Squashing Day in ALPEIN Software – best practice for boosting of bug-tracking effectiveness and team building.

Similar practice has already been established by many IT companies that recognized it as an efficient procedure for quality assurance. Therefore, our company has slightly redefined and adopted this common practice for our own purposes.

Every third Friday of the month, our team performs extra testing of the software and tries to spot various bugs and report them in Jira. Afterwards, the identified bugs are added to the next sprint to be fixed.

For this purpose, our project managers choose the most important and critical project that is awaiting release in the nearest future. They make a list of functionalities and possible weak points of the projects that need to be checked. The potential bugs need to be checked on different devices and, thus, device tests are assigned to all project participants so to distribute the workload rationally and cover the maximum of possible cases.

Depending on the complexity of the project, not only QA specialists and developers can participate in the search for bugs, but also managers and other specialists can help acting as ordinary users, which allows us to find usability issues and look at the software product from a different angle.

Joint work on an important task allows us to increase team spirit, as well as establish communication and understanding between different departments of the company. This is an important part of team building, which glues the team during remote work.

At the same time, both the company and the team benefit!
